Peter's phlog
On 22nd May 2009 I will set off from Land's End to ride over 850 miles to John O'Groats where I will arrive on 29th May. In so doing I will be fulfilling a promise made five years ago to Professor Roger Kirby when he removed my cancerous prostate and thereby gave me a new lease of life - namely that I would celebrate five years of that new life by undertaking a serious fundraising cycling challenge. Without Roger's skill and the research work and support of the charity of which he is the President I may not have been able to ride my bike at all today, let alone take on the infamous End to End challenge.
Peter made it! Arrived in good shape after nearly 900 miles. 17 miles to Wick and train home! £12.5k raised!!!

Day 6 in Scotland, oddly it's wet - then sunny. Fighting through the traffic to Aviemore. 114 miles in 8 hours.
End of day 5, hardest day so far - wind in wrong direction! Missed scenary - mostly watching for potholes.
Peter's half way - made it to Carlisle. 8 hours in the sadle, 123 miles, tomorrow Scotland!
A few detours, lots of nice scenery, even stopped at the pub. 9.5 hours in saddle, 142 miles!
Run up the A38 with Michael Francis setting off an hour earlier - Peter caught him up! 105 miles in 6.5 hours.
Peter makes it safely to Exeter, 132 miles 16 mph using 7556 calories!
Calling from Lands End Hotel only 874 miles to go but the wind is favourable!
