Hi this is Felicity and unfortunately I'm still at the base camp in Union Glacier; on the far side of Antarctica where I want to start my expedition currently isn't good enough to fly so I'm still sitting here waiting for an opportunity for the plane to drop me off at the start point of the trip. So little bit frustrating more than I used but I'm keeping myself busy and going through using the time to go to my kit again and again and again and go through my re-supplies and it doesn't seem to matter how many times I comb through my sledges every time I look through them again I find something no matter how small to take away - be it just a label, packaging or something or some tiny little bit of kit that I've decided I can do without. And the longer I wait here the lighter my sledges are going to be, even if it's only marginally. But, you know, I'm warm, I'm happy and my tent is set up and we get fed really well here at the base camp so breakfast, lunch and dinner so I'm certainly living well; and if you have to hang around a few days this is a great spot to do it - Union Glacier really is a lovely spot, completely surrounded by mountains on all sides and ironically the weather here is absolutely beautiful, it's really warm, there's no wind - so I'm getting good sleep - and it's just a matter of sitting tight and waiting to be given the go-ahead, so that's what I'm going to do. So fingers crossed for Wednesday, hopefully I'll be gone by then. Ok, speak to you soon.

Punta Arenas, last tuesday, sunny day

Hello from Punta Arenas in Chile. I've been here since last Tuesday and this is where I will fly into Antarctica. It's about a 6 hour flight from here. At the moment I'm scheduled to fly on the 8th of November so that's a Tuesday but it all depends on the weather so we just have to wait and see you know keep my fingers crossed. I spent the last 5 days packing preparing kits. I think probably the biggest job was just preparing all the food - but I've now got 75 bags each containing breakfast, day food and evening meal for one day. I feel very calm and I'm happy to do all my kit and I feel ready to go now. It's a, it's a sunny day today in Punta it seems really strange to think that nex week I could be in Antarctica but I'm really ready for it and I'm excited and I can't wait to get going.

It doesn't seem to matter how many expeditions you've done, the last few days before departure are always a rush of hectic last minute preparation and packing - and this expedition doesn't seem to be any exception. I'm now just getting the last minute pieces ready and there are a few last minute panicks, some bits of kit that haven't quite arrived yet or not quite working properly that I want to get sorted before I leave the UK and so over the weekend I'll be busy getting these last things done. In fact, it might actually be a relief when I finally get on the plane on Monday because once that plane takes off from Heathrow anything that is not done is not going to get done and there's absolutely nothing I can do about it. So I think it'll be a relief to get on the plane and finally be on my way so I'm looking forward to Monday ___ I'm looking forward to leaving and getting down to Chile and getting to Punta Arenas

Hello this is Felicity. Welcome to the very first phone cast of the Kaspersky One Trans-Antarctic Expedition. I'm still at home at the moment. I haven't left the UK but I'm just making all my last minute preparations before I fly to South America where I'll wait for my flight to Antarctica. I should be landing on the ice around the 8th of November. So if you'd like to follow my journey come back around the 8th of November and I will be making a phone cast just like this every single day to let you know how I'm getting on and I hope you'll be following me because knowing that lots of people are watching my progress. I'll speak to you again then. Bye.
