Hi there, this is Mike Brace with part of the series about technology - "is IT for me". When I first discussed this with Robin Spinks on an earlier phonecast, we talked about everything from low cost to high cost technology, and complex to simple pieces of kit. The first review I want to start with is a piece of kit called The Penfriend. I'll describe it first of all and then I'll go on to tell you the sort of things that it does. It's is a pen about six inches long and enables you to voice label anything you can stick a label on. Click on the phonecast and listen for more.

Hi this is Rowe(?). Let you know the 20th of May. I'm trying an iPadio recording live on the using the high rate condenser mic. Not quite sure what we're recording but we're giving it a try to see if it works and we will test at a moment and see if there's actually being successful in uploading. It's a very low cost microphone for the iPod touch iPad and iPhone and it comes with its own set of apps so this is really a bit of experimentation to see how well it works and I will ___ so we shall speak to you then really soon. Bye bye.

Hi there, this is Mike Brace from VISION 2020 UK saying how delighted we are to be one of the first Vision Charities to use the new IT option provided by Ipadio to provide a discussion forum about technology which might be of interest and use by vision impaired people. We also hope to bring audio descriptions of new and old technology that might be the solution to a problem you are facing or just to let you know what is on the horizon as developments unfold. This first Phlog is an interview with Robin Spinks who is chairman of the VISION 2020 UK Technology for life group and features some of the areas we hope to cover in the coming weeks. your comments of either equipment to cover or reviews that you can contribute would also be very much welcomed.
