ipadio and Charity

Ipadio allows you to talk live on your web site from any telephone. Many charities are already using ipadio for fundraising, campaigning and live broadcasting from events.

A few benefits:

Increased donations per fundraiser

During the Playtex Moonwalk, a single walker raised an additional £200+ by phonecasting using ipadio. @MandyPandy32 (that’s a Twitter name for folks who still live entirely in the real world!) gave progress updates using her mobile phone. Ipadio immediately updated her friends and supporters via email, Twitter and Facebook. And because they could listen to how she was getting on, they dug deeper during the walk. We believe the potential for addition revenues is enormous.

Great campaigning tool

While Scope’s campaigners were out checking the accessibility of travel services around the country, they made a call with ipadio each time there was a problem. The results make compelling listening, and just wouldn’t have been possible any other way. You can hear them embedded on Scope's web site or below:

Live broadcasts from your events

You know better than us - fundraising events can be fun, challenging, emotional and sometimes even gruelling. Capture the news, views, fun and raw emotion with live broadcasts from these events, straight back to your web site. The Children's Trust marathon run is a good example of this:

And much, much more

From broadcasting interviews and messages of support from your celebrity supporters (so much better than plain old text) to keeping your volunteers briefed and creating podcasts for your web site, ipadio helps you engage with your whole community.

Oxfam, The Red Cross, Save The Children and the UN Foundation in Haiti

Ipadio and Oxfam worked together in the aftermath of the 2010 Haiti earthquake to provide a fast and low-maintenance means by which Oxfam aid workers could report back to the world on relief efforts. Despite the earthquake destroying most of Haiti's communications infrastructure, Ipadio was able to broadcast to the rest of the world because it works over the telephony networks and works on any phone - including satellite phones. This not only provided valuable reportage, but created a tangible link between the people on the ground and the fund-raising operation, engaging directly with the visitor in order to solicit donations.

Ipadio was also used in Haiti by the United Nations Foundation, The Red Cross and Save The Children. Similarly, their respective aid workers all used ipadio's phonecall-to-internet technology to broadcast updates on the situation and what they were doing to help.

Oxfam's Fight Poverty in Afghanistan Campaign

Oxfam have also been using ipadio for an innovative petition to try and improve conditions in Afghanistan - rather than just have names on paper, they have been encouraging supporters to call in from around the world and leave their thoughts - which can be much more free-form, and listening back paints a much more vivid picture of the many people who care about Afghanistan.

Duke of Edinburgh's Award

Each year 275,000 young people are assessed by 50,000 assessors on their way to a Bronze, Silver or Gold Award.  Using ipadio, DofE Assessors phone in their assessments instead of filling in an online or written form.
