Often times, I work with students who are surprised about the amount of time that you have to spend in studying English to prepare for the university in the United States. For some of these international students, they come from programs or experiences where they studied on a very casual basis. However, to prepare for the rigors of the university study, they must study very differently and the intensity this study has to be much greater. In other words, if you're going from the very low student to prepare for the university, it's going to take a lot of time. So I would always suggest the students no. 1 set realistic and specific goals no. 2 meet with other students of other nationalities and form study groups. No. 3 Plan on three to five hours of homework a night and no. 4 take some time to relax between your studies.
