In 1999 I left my job as a human resources professional to stay home with my youngest daughter Laura. Although I absolutely loved it, I knew I would never return to that HR field. I was out of work for 3 years and Laura and I had all sorts of adventures. Knowing that my Universe could get to be the size of my kitchen table if I let it, I frequented our town library with Laura in tow. I started a pre school story our program and worked on a summer reading program for elementary students. When Laura started school, I wondered what I would do next. My husband Wayne suggested that I become a librarian and it was just light bulb clicked on my head. I returned to school in 2001 got my Masters and certification 3 years later and was lucky enough to get a job in our local K3 12 school. Good morning students and parents. This is an announcement about summer reading. As we approach the end of our school year, it's time to start thinking about the pleasure of summer reading. The purpose of the summer reading program is to encourage the enjoyment of reading and the development of independent reading skills. Students who are entering 6th 7th and 8th grade will select and read at least two books over the summer. A double entry journal must be completed for each book. One of the books must be a selection from the required reading list. The second book may come from the required reading list or the suggested reading list. All reading and the assignments must be completed before the 1st day of school in September. Students in the 8th grade ___ program will read 3 books over the summer. A double entry journal must be completed for each book. Of the 3 selections, two must be chosen from the required reading list. The third book may come from the required list or
