This is Betsy Landers and I believe that music in the hearts and the arts are very important part of child's education. Children who are exposed to music and the arts are generally happier or creative and seem to be more disciplined in their study. I believe that taking music out of the curriculum is a huge mistake. When school budgets are cut the first classes to be eliminated are usually the music classes band and choir. Learning music teaches a child to count to listen to participate in a team to work together for a common goal to practice alone and with someone else and to perform. Band and choir both team activities and have the same effect for some kids that sports do for others. Those band and choir function as support groups for so many other school ___

I believe that being a parent is the most difficult challenging and painful thing that any person can ever do. For one thing nothing ever stays the same. It's like playing a sport in which the rules changed every five minutes but no one informs you of the changes. Then just when you start having some success suddenly what you were doing is now causing you to fail and you have to start all over again figuring out what the rules are. It's exhausting and incredibly frustrating. Now imagine that the players on the opposing team are connected to you in such a way that everything that they feel you feel. Everything that hurts them hurt you to an exponential degree. But in order to win the game you have to do things that upset and hurt them on a regular basis making the whole process way more difficult and painful for you.
