Many people are familiar with the word pie no as the pumpkin pie that you have for desert on thanksgiving but the number pie. Pie is a number that is used to calculate the conference in area of the circle and a surface area and volume of the cylinder, cone and sphere but what is pie exactly. Pie is a number that represent the ratio or comparison between a circumference and diameter of any circle. In other words pie represent the number of times that the diameter of a particular circle will wrap around or equal the circumference of that same circle. 3 diameters(?) will not quite work and 4 diameters(?) would be too much. This relationship has been explored as far as back as 4 thousand years ago. The Babylonians(?) of ancient Mesopotamia(?) used 3 and 1 8th to approximate pie. The Egyptians(?) used 256 to 81
