Hello it was a bit sad today cos we left ___ after 3 weeks after first arrived and it was beginning to feel a bit like our permanent base but we've moved South and it's exciting because we're coming South on different routes to the way we came and we're going to Dvina River so we're driving along the frozen river so it's an official ice highway it's not just that we headed along the river it's a proper road it's marked on maps it's been cleared it's got road signs and everything. We did have a laugh amongst us when we saw a triangular road sign warning us there were bumps ahead and this is after we've been jiggled about being rattled all over the place for the past sort of hour or so and then there was a sign warning us that there were bumps for the next kilometre and we turned to each other and went oh what just the next kilometre great. But yeah there's road signs and there's other traffic but it is the.
___ to do lots of jobs before we move on on the next leg. But there was one ___ in particular that was a little bit different on our very first night in ___ sort of 2 weeks ago a man pulled up next to the Defender and got very excited and said I've gotta I've got a Land Rover ___ Land Rover and I'm a mammoth hunter. I said we're really intrigued so we tracked him down today and sure enough in his garage there's a 2010 Land Rover Defender in black and when we spoke to him he says you know I'm a mammoth hunter and he had lots of mammoth bones in his garden he ___ of Siberia and looks for the remains of mammoths it's apparently quite easy to find judging by the amount of bones that he had and he uses them during the summer he has a workshop where people come and carve the bones and that that
I spent nearly a week now meeting people that live in the area around the ___ we've met some amazing characters visited a school we went looking for fishermen and we haven't had much luck with the reindeer herd is actually here yet apparently they've had big trouble with wolves in the area attacking the reindeer herd. So they're moving around quite a lot so we haven't had a lot of luck tracking them down but we're hoping still to catch up with them at some point. I'm really hoping to hear from wolves I think that would be really fantastic but apparently it's very rare that they make any noise at all they're usually quite silent and secretive but today was a bit turning point quite literally for us because although we're still in the region around the ___ we turned around and started the journey back

by Pole of Cold Expedition 2013
Hello. Well I've been very fortunate to arrive at quite a few different poles in my lifetime magnetic pole geographic pole but I'm speaking to you now from a Pole of Cold Oymyakon in Yakutsk in North Eastern Siberia and I'm standing here looking at a thermometer reading minus 54 degrees centigrade so this is certainly the coldest pole I've ever arrived at and that includes the South Pole. This is the coldest temperature I think I've ever experienced certainly the coldest temperature I've ever seen on a thermometer right in front of me and it really is quite remarkable being here. It's the first thing that strikes you is it's so still. There's not a breath of wind and apparently it's because the air is so cold and dense and heavy that it just sits here and where we are in Oymyakon is surrounded on all sides by
