Hi, this is Randall. One of the most complex situations in any language is how to start up conversations, but in a very natural way. One of the things you might learn in the textbook is to ask the person's name; however, how often do we really start a conversation by saying what's your name? Imagine that you're on an airplane and the person next to you says hi what's your name. It sounds very unusual; we need to learn and teach students how to start up conversations, by for example, on an airplane: "So, where are you going?" Something like that. Also, we need to help people learn how to transition in conversations, for example, "So" " by the way" and we also need to learn how to end conversations by saying something like, "Well, I have to go" or "I need to go to class." Doing and starting conversation is really key in good communication
