I spent nearly a week now meeting people that live in the area around the ___ we've met some amazing characters visited a school we went looking for fishermen and we haven't had much luck with the reindeer herd is actually here yet apparently they've had big trouble with wolves in the area attacking the reindeer herd. So they're moving around quite a lot so we haven't had a lot of luck tracking them down but we're hoping still to catch up with them at some point. I'm really hoping to hear from wolves I think that would be really fantastic but apparently it's very rare that they make any noise at all they're usually quite silent and secretive but today was a bit turning point quite literally for us because although we're still in the region around the ___ we turned around and started the journey back

Hi well today we spent the day in Yakutsk and it's been 7 years since I was last here and apparently it's one of the fastest growing cities in Siberia and I can see the difference just in the last 7 years on my last visit. But it's still a fascinating city. It's really cold though it's hovering around minus 40 today and that's kind of average for for the city this time of year and it's just it's just well it looks as if the city's on fire but it's kind of like a thick haze as you're walking around and the cold really does hit you between the eyes when you walk outside. It makes your eyes water it instantly starts freezing up sort of your nose so your nose feels itchy and your eyelashes start to get a bit sticky they start sticking together and your cheeks burn and you really within a

Hello this is Felicity and I'm talking to you from the Land Rover on the satellite phone and we're sat on the edge of Lake Baikal looking out over the waters and the sun's setting and I can see that the waves and the wind are bringing a lot of ___ ice from the lake up against the shore. So it's all piled up in these big heaps on what is usually a lovely sandy beach. So it's a really spectacular view point and it's the marks a huge landmark for us cos Lake Baikal is that long thin lake that you can see to the east of Siberia. So it really is a huge landmark and for us it was a big milestone to reach the the southern tip tip of Lake Baikal because this is where we stop heading south and start swinging round to head up north on our final stretch towards the ___ up in the north of of ___. And it's funny for me because I was here back in 2008 in March 2000 and

Fresh Fishing news from Newlyn, Cornwall. - phlog (34713) image uploaded on 17-Feb-11

ELIZABETH JACKSON: I'm going to finish this program in the way we started it, with Philip Williams. Only this time the mood is quite different - you could almost say festive. In the UK, the race to the music charts' Christmas number one is almost as highly anticipated as Santa's arrival himself. In the 60 years since the official UK Singles Chart began, the top spot has been claimed by a wide range of artists from The Beatles to The Spice Girls to Pink Floyd. It hasn't been without its controversies, as our Europe correspondent Phil Williams explains. ('Christmas Is All Around', from 'Love Actually' soundtrack plays) PHILIP WILLIAMS: As a pretty ordinary harmonica player and an even worse singer, my dreams of a number one record have receded with my hairline. But someone has to claim that shifting crown, and at Christmas in Britain there's a distinctly un-Christmas-y scramble for number one honours. Remember the movie 'Love Actually'?
