The four year old mare Shareta became the first French trained filly in more than 30 years to land the Darley Yorkshire Oaks, the feature race on Day two of the Ebor Festival at York. The race was run in heavy rain and priduced a stirring finish with Shareta just outstaying The Fugue to land the prize. Here's winning jockey Christophe Lemaire.

The Fugue has rocketed to near the top of the market for the Investec Oaks next month after a hugely impressive victory over the favourite,Twirl in the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes on the first day of the Dante Meeting at York. On only her third start she stepped up on her fourth place in the 1,000 Guineas and is now bound for Epsom. Here's delighted jockey William Buick.

On a rainy Saturday going to occasion, he found a quite extraordinary one. It was plainy(?) red shiny and perfectly round like a marble.
Henry Cecil will saddle two leading contenders for the biggest prizes at next week's York Ebor Festival, with Twice Over in the Juddmonte International on the opening day and Midday bound for the Darley Yorkshire Oaks on the thursday. The Knavesmire is a place deep in Cecil's affections, and he has been speaking with Mike Vince about his two big hopes for Group One glory.
This has already been a memorable year for Prince Khalid Abdulla, with the highlight the victory of his home bred colt, Workforce, in the Vodaphone Derby at Epsom. Now he goes in search of more Group One glory next week at York, with Royal Ascot winner Byword and Twice Over bidding to give him his first win in the feature he sponsors, the Juddmonte International, while Midday will carry his colours in the Group One Darley Yorkshire Oaks. His Racing Manager, Teddy Grimthorpe, is eagerly looking forward to York's big week.
